The startup Neobrain offers two analyses that it has carried out on IT jobs in order to answer two questions: what are the most sought-after positions? what skills are most in demand? In order to propose these results, 54 million offers have been analysed in about fifty countries.
A rebalancing of jobs in the world of artificial intelligence and IT
In order to produce the first graph, Neobrain’s teams observed the evolution of the distribution of IT jobs between November 2020 and April 2021. Here are the results that emerged:
If we look at the evolution of the distribution of IT jobs from November 2020 to April 2021, we notice a certain rebalancing of positions. Whereas in November 2020, technical sales positions accounted for more than 25% of IT jobs, in April 2021 they account for only 18%. Other positions have been strengthened:
- DevOps (Development and Operations): at 41% in November 2020, their share increases to 44% in April 2021.
- Web developers: they represented 11% of IT jobs in November 2020, compared to 12% in April 2021.
- Data jobs (Data Scientists / Data Engineers): in November 2020, 13% of jobs were in data, compared to 16% in April 2021.
This trend can be explained, according to Neobrain, by a rebalancing of job offers in the IT sphere: in the midst of the crisis, recruiters seem to have preferred to put the brakes on the sales function and strengthen production and development positions.
Recruiters’ preferred skills in development jobs
The start-up then looked at the “hard skills” in IT jobs. Their evolution over the months was analyzed between November 2020 and April 2021. Find the results below:
A closer look at this graph reveals three major trends:
- The progression of the Python language (9.17% in November 2020, it reaches 9.69% of the most requested skills in April 2021) / in the same category of skills, the “r” language slightly decreases but still remains in the top three.
- The SQL skill, a programming language dedicated to the use of databases and useful in big data, is also increasing significantly. These skills are directly linked to the professions of the future: Data Scientist, Data Engineer…
- The last interesting point is that mastery of HTML code is still very much in demand in the IT professions. This trend is justified by the rise in power and popularity of SaaS platforms, which are based on this computer language.
