Artificial intelligence is increasingly used in the insurance sector, as demonstrated by the use by Natixis Assurances, the insurance division of Groupe BPCE, of solutions developed by diwise, a subsidiary of CNP Assurances. The objective is simple: to facilitate the administrative procedures for the beneficiaries of its life insurance policies. AI allows to optimize the beneficiary process while saving time in the capital payment process and making the customer experience more fluid.
Based on AI, the automatic document recognition (ADR) and automatic document reading (ADR) solutions from diwise by CNP Assurances have been used since February 2021 within the Espace Successions Assurances, the internet portal for Natixis Assurances’ life insurance customers and beneficiaries. They have already enabled more than 2,500 beneficiaries to have their identity documents and bank statements (RIB) automatically checked on the portal.
Nofel Goulli, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Natixis Assurances / Life and Health Insurance Business Line, explains:
“Launched in 2018, the Espace Successions Assurances is designed to facilitate and make transparent, for beneficiaries and also for the advisors of the Banque Populaire and Caisse d’Epargne networks, the administrative procedures involved in the settlement of life insurance capital. In 2020, this area was opened to beneficiaries of CNP Assurances policies taken out with the Caisses d’Epargne.
Our platform has now been enhanced with a new real-time document recognition service developed by the diwise subsidiary of our partner CNP Assurances. This initiative, which is a concrete step in our strategy of using APIs, enables us to improve the experience of beneficiaries and illustrates the complementary nature of our partnership with CNP Assurances.
As the process is carried out in real time, management time and steps to request an updated ID, a legible RIB or a compliant document are saved, thus contributing to an optimized customer experience.
Currently available to more than 80% of life insurance beneficiaries (spouse, heirs and beneficiaries designated by the policyholder), the system will gradually be extended to process all the documents required to set up the capital settlement file (tax documents, devolution of the estate, etc.) until the final stage, when the capital payment is automated.
Thomas Chardonnel and Frédéric Fernique, respectively Head of the BPCE partnership business unit, Retirement and Loan Insurance Europe, and Head of the BPCE partnership business unit of CNP Assurances, said:
“We are delighted that the automatic document reading and recognition solutions developed by our subsidiary diwise by CNP Assurances have been selected by our partner Natixis Assurances to optimise the experience of its customers and in particular to facilitate the administrative procedures for life insurance beneficiaries at a time already marked by bereavement. This joint development with BPCE is a further illustration of the dynamism of our partnership.
