Tractable, a specialist in computer vision solutions for insurance companies, becomes a unicorn

Tractable, a company developing artificial intelligence systems for claims and accident management, has just raised 60 million from Insight Partners and Georgian, two private equity firms. This fundraising will allow the firm to accelerate its growth and will finance the development of its activities in the purchase and sale of used cars and in the management of natural disasters. The startup is now valued at1 billion, making it a unicorn.

A 60 million fundraising round </h2>60 million is the amount raised by Tractable in the Series D funding round led by Insight Partners and Georgian. This round of funding doubles the total amount raised by the brand from55 million to 115 million. The company is valued at1 billion and becomes a unicorn.

Tractable is a company specializing in the design of AI systems for claims and accident management. When motorists have an accident, their repairers (or the uses themselves) can provide photos of the damage to their insurer. The company offers an AI that analyzes the damage in real time and thus speeds up decisions that usually take several days, such as evaluating the vehicle’s repair possibilities or estimating the repairs to be made.

Alex Dalyac, CEO and founder of Tractable, discusses how his startup is leveraging artificial intelligence and computer vision to help insurance companies as well as future opportunities for his company to grow:

“Six years ago, we founded Tractable to bring the capabilities of artificial intelligence in image classification to the real world. We discovered how to manage auto claims assessment to help over a million people recover from accidents, and we helped recycle cars that couldn’t be repaired. We’ve turned the 55 million we raised into a1 billion company. And yet, there are many more image recognition opportunities to be exploited, and more breakthroughs to be made in AI. The next breakthrough for us will be in housing.”

The unicorn has seen a 600% growth in revenue over the past 24 months, an increase driven by several international contract wins.

An investment to accelerate Tractable’s growth

Thanks to the investment proposed by Insight Partners and Georgian, Tractable aims to accelerate its growth by focusing on accident management, the company’s core business. The insurance computer vision solutions specialist wants to develop new AI tools to assess the condition of the vehicle and allow users to better understand the damage done to a vehicle and the individual parts that need to be replaced. The aim of these features will be to provide greater transparency when making sales and purchasing decisions. Automotive companies and car leasing financial institutions could also benefit from this technology.

Lonne Jaffe, Managing Director at Insight Partners and a member of Tractable’s board, referring to Tractable’s fundraising, said:

“The acceleration of Tractable’s large-scale growth is a testament to the power and uniqueness of the machine learning system used. The system continues to evolve as more and more companies adopt it. We are excited to double down on our partnership with Tractable because they are helping the world recover faster from accidents and disasters that affect hundreds of millions of people.”

Emily Walsh, Partner at Georgian Partners, adds:

“Tractable’s cutting-edge computer vision capabilities continue to drive incredible return on investment and growth for the company. We are very excited to continue partnering with Tractable as they apply their artificial intelligence capabilities to new multi-billion dollar opportunities in the used vehicle and disaster damage management industries.”

With this round of funding, Tractable hopes to apply its technology to the assessment of damage to capital assets. With its collaboration with an international insurer based in Japan, the company will be able to help homeowners recover faster from weather events like a typhoon by providing photos and thus benefit from an accelerated claim payment through AI.
