For this 6th episode of Synapse AI, Mathieu Barreau takes us into the world of quantum science with Marc Leclair, coordinator of INTRIQ (Institut transdisciplinaire d’information quantique).
INTRIQ’s mission is to federate the research effort in quantum information in Quebec in order to help our researchers reach and maintain their position at the forefront of the international scene and to prepare students, college and university professors, engineers, industrialists and Quebec society for the next quantum revolution.
Its short-term objectives are :
- Enhance the synergy of transdisciplinary collaboration among members through the funding of collaborative projects;
- Foster exchanges with researchers from other institutions, in Canada and around the world, through the organization of events and visits;
- Strengthen the training of students and highly qualified personnel through their integration into an interdisciplinary environment;
- Fostering discovery through the sharing and stewardship of major infrastructure;
- Initiate new technological developments and foster interaction with industry as well as support technology transfer and patenting.
Although quantum and artificial intelligence are two very distinct fields of research, these technologies are bound to converge in the years to come, with some seeing quantum as a hope for a future leap in the performance of artificial intelligence.
In this episode, Marc Leclair introduces us to quantum technology and highlights the current state of knowledge in the field.
