On June 10, 2021, Sanofi, Capgemini, Generali and Orange announced the creation of Future4care, which aims to accelerate the development of European e-health solutions until they reach the market. A little less than a year after the launch of this initiative, Future4care inaugurated its offices in the heart of the Biopark in Paris and its digital platform on May 16.
The Covid-19 pandemic revealed the lack of agility in the healthcare system. To remedy this problem, Sanofi, Capgemini, Generali and Orange have identified two challenges: health sovereignty and decompartmentalizing the system. In response, these companies have created Future4Care, a start-up gas pedal.
Agnès Pannier-Runacher, then Minister Delegate for Industry, declared:
“I am delighted with the creation of Future4care, which is in line with the government’s priorities to make France a leader in digital health. Digital innovation is indeed at the heart of our priorities to improve patient care and find more effective therapeutic solutions.”
On September 22, 2021, the first call for projects dedicated to digital e-health was launched, and the following December, the 20 selected e-health start-ups joined Future4care to form its first class: ArcaScience, Bbalance, Blazar, Bliss Digital Therapeutics, Bodyo, Casis, Hoppen, I-Virtual, Juisci, Kapcode, Knok, MaPatho, Medvir, PK Vitality, Remedee Labs, Rofim, SentinHealth, Trayvisor, Wefight and Whitelab.
While these start-ups joined Future4care last February and their personalized support began, the first collaborations were quickly formed, such as the one between I-Virtual and Knok. The two start-ups, which met when they joined Future4Care, announced on March 1 that I-Virtual was integrating its Caducy physiological parameter measurement solution into the Knok platform for the benefit of healthcare professionals and patients.
In April, Future4care launched its second call for applications on the subjects of personalized medicine and remote patient management.
Launch of the Institute
Future4care announced the creation of the Institute on March 22 during the first “Ethics and e-health in 2030” conference. Its scientific and ethical council, which brings together personalities from various disciplines, is chaired by Professor Olivier Guérin.
In 2022, the first work will focus on the impact of digital technology on personalized medicine and remote access to care.
New partnerships
Future4care, which aims to become the European hub of reference in e-health, announced a partnership with PariSanté Campus and the @Hôtel-Dieu initiative last March.
Be-Ys, Biocodex, Alira Health and UCB have joined the ecosystem as industrial partners.
In January 2022, Be ys, an expert in high tech digital trust and data governance applied to insurance and healthcare, was the first to join the Future4care ecosystem. The following April, Biocodex, a pioneer and international pharmaceutical player in the field of microbiota and women’s health, joined the ecosystem, reinforcing the multi-disciplinary approach sought by Future4care’s founders. It was joined this month by another player in this field: the biopharmaceutical company UCB, which specializes in severe diseases in immunology and neurology. Alira Health, a healthcare consulting company based in Europe and the United States, whose mission is to humanize healthcare, has also joined Future4care.
Other companies will follow very soon to give Future4care its full European dimension. To symbolize these first successes, Future4care inaugurated on May 16 the opening of its premises and its digital platform entirely designed to foster ideation, collaboration and more broadly innovation.
Agnès De Leersnyder, Managing Director of Future4care, said:
“We are very proud, together with the Future4care team and the involved collaborators of our founders, of how far we have come in the last 12 months. Today, more than a hundred entrepreneurs, experts, researchers and other healthcare professionals have joined us. The adventure is just beginning. We look forward to seeing you in one year.
