The AFIA (French Association for Artificial Intelligence), through its Human Language Technologies (HLT) college, the ARIA (Association for Information Research and Applications) and the GDR-TAL (Research Group for Automatic Language Processing) are organizing a joint day on the theme of “Interactive Access to Information” on December 9, 2021 in Paris (Jussieu).
The GDR-TAL is interested in language in all its forms: written, oral, signed. It deals with the themes of computational modeling of language, its manifestations and its applications. The central communities of the GDR TAL are those of automatic language processing, automatic spoken language processing and information retrieval. It leads a scientific prospection on the major issues of NLP, from reflection to the scientific animation of the community in order to improve its scientific strategy, its attractiveness and its visibility.
For its part, AFIA aims to promote and foster the development of AI in its various forms, to bring together and grow the French AI community, and to ensure its visibility. Third partner of this day, the ARIA, which aims to promote the knowledge of the field of Information Retrieval and the various scientific fields involved in the design, implementation and evaluation of Information Retrieval systems. It brings together teams and researchers from academia and industry who are working on the following topics: information retrieval and the web, information extraction, knowledge management, multimedia document mining, audio document retrieval, image and video retrieval, human-computer interfaces for information access. These are all areas that lie at the intersection of Automatic Processing of Written and Spoken Languages, machine learning, data mining, knowledge engineering and information systems engineering. In particular, ARIA offers researchers and practitioners in the field a place for exchange and knowledge through the organization or support of scientific events.
The GDR-TAL, the AFIA and the ARIA organize this fourth day “Information Retrieval and Artificial Intelligence” with the theme “Interactive Access to Information”.
Interactive Information Access” Day
This day is co-organized by Benjamin Piwowarski, Florian Boudin, Gaël Dias, Jean-Pierre Chevallet, José G. Moreno, Mathieu Roche, and Thierry Charnoi and will bring together researchers in AI, NLP and IR working on interactive aspects of information access. This day will be an opportunity to compare experiences in interactive research in different application areas, both on the advanced research side and on the industrial application side.
