Performance and health, sport in the AI era
Running using an application that analyses our performance and makes recommendations has become commonplace. Technological solutions around leisure or professional sports have developed, contributing to the evolution of the sports industry and related professions. AI is one of the tools used. Let’s re-discover sport in the AI era through the solutions already in use and the ambitious research projects under development, whether to improve performance, detect talent, optimize equipment, improve training or prevent injuries.

Focus on CrowdDNA, an ambitious European research project on crowd dynamics
In order to avoid potential tragedies, the European research project CrowdDNA is looking at the prediction of crowd movements, the detection of risk factors and the study of new simulation models. Julien Pettré, research director at Inria’s Rennes-Bretagne Atlantique centre, is the coordinator of the project and answered our questions.

How will AI jobs evolve?
The demand of companies in terms of artificial intelligence is constantly growing. Linkedin has noted, for example, an increase in recruitment in the field in France of 40% over the year 2020. All AI jobs are currently under tension but the landscape will evolve, which is the subject of this article.

Artificial intelligence in the industry – Fantasies and reality in the field
Teamwork Corporate’s DataSquad team (Meriam Chorfa, Mathieu Ciancone, Virginie Mathivet, Damien Peelman and Gabriel Sequeira) took an interest in the expectations of industrialists around AI and the reality of the data scientist.

Artificial intelligence at LS2N
Come to the Loire-Atlantique region to discover the Laboratoire des Sciences du Numérique de Nantes, one of the largest digital laboratories in France, which offers a targeted range of operational, lightweight and anthropocentric AI!

The European Commission’s ambitious Current Artificial Intelligence project
Yannick Meneceur, Associate Researcher at the IHEJ, looked at one of the key topics of 2021: the European Commission’s proposed regulation on artificial intelligence.

Reconciling AI
From the perceptron to Google’s latest algorithm (Switch-C), via expert systems and constraint programming, the imagination of researchers has exploited, over time, all the power of the tools and the most complex combinations to best approach human perception and reasoning. However, schematically, all these technologies can be classified into two main categories: digital AI and symbolic AI. ActuIA and its scientific committee, including Laurent Cervoni, Juliette Mattioli, Francis Rousseaux, Eric de la Clergerie and Françoise Soulié, propose to discover what these two approaches cover and, because the world is complex and not binary, suggest a perspective of rapprochement between them for an AI that is even more efficient, more comprehensible and more in line with its human model.

The different implementation philosophies in LR
Ludovic Denoyer, a research scientist at FAIR, proposes to simplify the programming of reinforcement learning algorithms using the principles of supervised learning: the “RLStructures” library.

Behind the scenes of Paris Machine Learning
Considered by many as one of the largest groups of machine learning experts in Europe, the Paris Machine Learning Meetup is a pioneer. By highlighting emerging research topics and promoting unlikely encounters, it has contributed to the emergence of the current French AI ecosystem. Its founders explain to us what goes on behind the scenes of the group and look back on the great sharing of expertise of the meetup.
