The 2021 edition of The Global Annual Achievement Awards for Artificial Intelligence saw Moody’s Analytics win the award for Best Use of AI in Banking or Financial Technology. The award recognizes Moody’s Analytics for Credit Sentiment Score,its AI-based tool.

This solution provided by Moody’s Analytics aims to enhance credit assessment and monitoring processes. The AI techniques used by Credit Sentiment Score are used to identify negative signals in a database composed of all newspaper and trade magazine articles that would make it impossible to invest in a credit. According to Nihil Parel, Managing Director of Moody’s Analytics:

‘Monitoring credit-related news articles has become very valuable for monitoring companies, especially outside the reporting cycle. With our solution, this can be done faster, more broadly and more cost-effectively than was previously possible

Credit Sentiment Score takes into account the fact that trouble signals typically appear in news articles six months or more before major credit incidents occur. The tool will increase the monitoring of news articles on credit-related topics and improve the financial monitoring and decision-making processes of companies, investors and lenders.
