At its Build 2020 conference, Microsoft unveiled a supercomputer, designed in partnership with OpenAI. Announced as one of the five most powerful computers in the world, it should enable new models of artificial intelligence to be trained from Azure.

This supercomputer was unveiled on the first day of the Microsoft Build 2020 conference, which is being held online, free of charge, this year. Intended to be used by the OpenAI organization, the supercomputer was designed as part of the partnership between the two entities. It will be available on the Azure cloud platform and will feature more than 10,000 GPUs, 285,000 processor cores and 400 gigabits per second of network connectivity for each GPU server.

The new supercomputer, announced as one of the 5 most powerful in the world, will allow developers to train their new AI models and accelerate the learning phase to create a generation of more powerful models. For Microsoft, the aim is to meet the needs of new models by making its optimization tools, but also its large models and supercomputing resources accessible to data scientists via Azure AI and GitHub.
