In 1972, Alain Colmerauer and his team in Marseille proposed a first version of the logic programming language Prolog. This work, enriched by a collaboration with Robert Kowalski of the University of Edinburgh, laid the foundations of today’s logic programming. Prolog and later constraint programming, probabilistic logic programming and other related technologies became key tools in symbolic programming and artificial intelligence.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the birth of Prolog, the Logic Programming Association, Prolog Heritage and the journal Artificial Intelligence, among others, are launching the Alain Colmerauer Award for an application designed and developed in Prolog.
The terms of participation are described here: https: //prologyear.logicprogramming.org/ColmerauerPrize.html
The deadline for submission is September 2 and the award will be presented on November 10 during the “Prolog Day Symposium” that will take place in Paris at the Saint Germain campus.
