explor’ia started on Monday for a digital event with conferences, workshops, panel discussions, and more.

This Monday began the explor’ia event, organized by the Impact IA collective. From May 25 to June 5, dozens of live conferences, workshops, MOOC, tutorials, white papers and panels of discussions on artificial intelligence will involve many players in the sector. The aim: to question the uses of AI, demystify preconceived ideas, and explore the fields of possibilities offered by this technology.

May 25th marked the kick-off of explor’ia, Impact IA’s 100% digital event. Seasoned AI experts wishing to share their knowledge, professionals, students wishing to enrich their skills or ordinary citizens curious to better understand its issues: all audiences are invited to live at the pace of AI over the next two weeks.

Created in 2018, Impact AI is a collective of reflection and actions whose ambition is to shed light on the ethical and societal challenges of artificial intelligence and to support innovative and positive projects for tomorrow’s world.

explor’ia: the strength of the collective at the service of
IASaccording to the latest Observatory of the Notoriety and Image of Artificial Intelligence published by the collective Impact AI in December 2019, more than 70% of French people would like to have more information on the use of artificial intelligence, particularly in the education and health sectors. It is on the strength of this observation that institutions, associations and companies that make up the collective have come together to create this unprecedented event at the heart of AI, open to all.

More than ever, in this exceptional period marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, the numerical equation and the role that AI can play represent strong elements for reflection. It is in this context that the collegial decision to maintain the explor’ia event in a digital format was taken because the collective’s conviction is that training is essential and can be established online or remotely without hindrance.

“Artificial intelligence is part of our daily lives. It is therefore essential to understand its impact on our lives, and to promote a responsible, ethical and inclusive AI: this is the mission of our collective. All together, we wanted to create explor’ia to meet the expectations of the citizens who are actors in this world undergoing a revolution and to prepare the young generations to embrace their future professions which will be directly or indirectly impacted by this technology”, explains Laurence Lafont, President of Impact AI & COO of Microsoft France.

Finally, this high point reflects the desire of a hundred or so actors, members and partners of the collective, to democratize artificial intelligence by making as many organizations and individuals as possible aware of its understanding and to make France a champion nation of artificial intelligence.

Thus, about ten experts from civil society: researchers, psychologists, mathematicians… have joined the collective to offer in a few minutes their vision of AI and present the challenges and opportunities it offers.

explor’ia: from 7 to 77 years old, AI in all its states!
The richness of the free content as illustrated by the 40 live conferences offered throughout the event and the access to a hundred or so educational contents, as well as the tailor-made approach for each audience: general public, student or business, undeniably constitute the originality of explor’ia.

“The results of the observatory of AI notoriety and image in France led by Ifop have prompted the working group dedicated to AI Impact Education that I lead to create this new meeting, explor’ia. It is an opportunity to mobilize our experts to explain artificial intelligence in all its dimensions, from ethics to sustainable development. It is a unique event that the Impact AI collective opens up to all those who are passionate about the subject or who are interested in it” explains Hélène Chinal, Head of the Impact AI Education group and Director of Operations for Capgemini France.

40 live conferences during the eventOn
average, these conferences will take the form of panels, round tables of experts, or presentations of the results of a study or a white paper and will allow, for example, to exchange on the use of conversational agents in our daily life or on applications in the field of health
.

The general public will thus be able to discover the fundamentals of AI and question its place in our daily lives and its impact on society. They will also be led to reflect on the issue of bias and the place of women in AI, the democratic stakes and ethical issues raised by AI.

Students will be invited to deepen their knowledge of AI and their technical skills during workshops (from high school level). These workshops will be based on interactivity and will leave plenty of room for question and answer sessions.

During webinars, professionals will learn about the place of AI in corporate strategy through testimonials and will reflect, for example, on governance issues.

More than 100 educational contents are available The
purpose of this in-depth, tailor-made content is to popularise AI and to provide educational material through MOOCs, videos, online tutorials and podcasts.
The general public will be able, through a citizen MOOC for example, to explore the contours of artificial intelligence, its impact, its functioning and the most commonly used AI disciplines such as Machine Learning.

Students who dream of new technologies and are planning a career integrating AI will also be able to consult a map of training courses produced by the collective and available on the impact-ai.fr website. And the youngest are not to be outdone with tutorials that will decipher the ABCs of AI.

Professional audiences will be interested in informed comments on use cases or advice on how to exploit the full managerial potential of AI.

More than ever with explor’ia, we want to promote the use of responsible AI, based on virtuous principles, allowing users to keep control and act in favor of a digital trust.
