France Is AI, one of the leading artificial intelligence events in France, organized by France Digitale and of which ActuIA is a partner, will be held this year on November 16th in digital format. Programme & Registration here.
The event, which has become a regular feature in the main hall of Station F over the last few years, aims to federate the European artificial intelligence ecosystem (researchers, CTOs, startups, opinion leaders and politicians) by offering an annual gathering around a conference, as well as networking sessions, allowing startups to meet investment funds and make prolific contacts with each other.
This clever recipe allows all profiles to find their way around, as the panels around which the conference is structured (research, investment, health, cybersecurity, sales and industry) are varied and cutting-edge.

In a health context, the 2020 edition of France is AI is held in 100% digital format, but Lara Rouyres, Board Member of France Digitale, confirms that all the ingredients that make France Is AI a success will always be present.
ActuIA
: What is the objective of France is AI?
Lara Rouyres
: For France Digitale, the France is AI event fulfils several missions: to communicate on the state of the art in artificial intelligence, but also to allow startups to meet investors, to get financing, to meet large groups in order to present their technos or to recruit.
ActuIA: What to expect for this 2020 edition?
Lara Rouyres
: The 2020 edition is in keeping with the times and will therefore be entirely dematerialised. All the panels and meetings are maintained. The advantage of this exceptional formula is that we are not limited in the selection of speakers by geographical constraints, nor by space, and this allows us to make the event accessible to a larger number of participants. We therefore expect the 2020 edition to be a very good vintage.
ActuIA: What is your assessment of the current digital and artificial intelligence context?
Lara Rouyres
: The health crisis has triggered an awareness of the need for a digital transformation. During the first containment, companies put themselves in a battle order and their objective was to find the means to be able to continue their activity, in particular by setting up teleworking. Of course, artificial intelligence does not integrate overnight, it has to be parameterised. I am convinced that gradually, over the second half of 2020 and especially over the first half of 2021, these technologies will start to be well integrated and will start to be able to accompany all corporates in their transformation.
News: The national strategy for artificial intelligence was announced two years ago, in 2018. Is it possible to draw a first assessment of it?
Lara Rouyres
: There was an initial impetus that was given with an AI strategy and the efforts made at this stage. This has resulted today in recent entrepreneurial successes, such as Dataiku. This investment strategy has helped to strengthen the position of certain French players, who now have a global position, and to make them champions. The growth in the amounts invested in AI is 4 times higher than the rest of the digital economy. We see that the subject is being taken up by the government.
There is a real investment by the government in digital technology and in technologies, within the framework of the 750 billion euro recovery plan, 100 billion in France. This enables Europe to be a major player. And France, within Europe, has a major role to play. The appointment of an AI strategy coordinator enables players in the field to maintain close relations with the government. Discussions can emerge directly between those carrying out projects and the government in order to propose a strategy that is real and applicable.
ActuIA: Coming back to France Is AI, which will be held on November 16, in a personal capacity, what is the panel you are most eagerly awaiting?
Lara Rouyres
: There’s going to be a panel that I’m very interested in, dedicated to public research in the face of GPT-3. The advances expected in terms of NLP through the use of GPT-3 are exciting, very promising and entirely topical this year. But I am also very interested in the situation of women in artificial intelligence, with the Women in AI Awards to be held during the event, in partnership with Capgemini, and in the question of investment in AI and blockchain in Europe.
