Devoteam and Télécom SudParis announced the creation of a new teaching chair entitled “Interpretable AI for Mission-Critical Applications”. This 3-year Chair is the concrete expression of the historic partnership between the engineering school and Devoteam.
The Chair will contribute to developing the skills of Télécom SudParis engineering students in artificial intelligence-based techniques for reliable, explainable and justifiable solutions. The aim is to integrate training modules into the engineering curriculum to enable students to master the state of the art in learning methods and associated tools, particularly for critical systems. The applications supporting the critical analysis of algorithm performance will concern the analysis of health or marketing data, natural language processing, detection of industrial anomalies, or energy demand management.
For Emmanuel LEHMANN, Managing Director of Devoteam :
“Today, AI is at the heart of industrial systems and consumer applications, and Devoteam supports its customers in finding the most innovative solutions, seeks to meet the best students and to build teams of experts with the most advanced knowledge of AI technologies. As a result, we are proud to contribute to the creation of an advanced skills cluster by creating the “Interpretable AI for Mission-Critical” Chair with a Grande Ecole such as Télécom SudParis”.
“By strengthening students’ skills in intelligent networks to meet the technological challenges, this chair stimulates synergy between the industrial world and the training of tomorrow’s digital engineers. says François DELLACHERIE, director of Télécom SudParis.
In-depth training in artificial intelligence engineering to train future decision-makers
Through this Chair, Devoteam contributes to the training of future decision-makers in strategy and the design of technical solutions by mastering the new challenges and paradigms related to artificial intelligence. The Chair will enable …
- to train future decision-makers in AI, particularly in areas specific to Devoteam’s expertise: knowledge management, BOTS and virtual assistant, signal processing, process mining ;
- to propose the realization of case studies in collaboration with Devoteam.
The Chair’s activities to make students aware of strategic AI issues will be articulated through :
- Generic Machine Learning courses: integration of AI in the business process, broad vision of AI in its industrialization;
- Complex practical case studies such as the management of an industrial AI process from end to end, integrating the security/risk factor;
- A “data challenge” for second-year students, jointly led by Télécom SudParis’ research professors and Devoteam experts.
Devoteam’s pedagogical intervention in the training of 2nd and 3rd year engineering students at Télécom SudParis will contribute to the mathematics, artificial intelligence and statistics courses, with the help of Aymen Chakhari, Devoteam’s IA Director, and two Devoteam consultants, Hamadi Camara and Zied Ben Othmane.
Sustainable relations between school and business partners for the benefit of digital transformation
This Chair marks the continuity of a 3-year partnership between Devoteam and Télécom SudParis: the company has just completed its role as sponsor for the promotion of the 2017-2019 engineering cycle.
This partnership is under the aegis of the Fondation Mines-Télécom. Recognized as being of public utility, the Foundation was created to give the schools of the Institut Mines-Télécom the means to carry out their missions towards excellence in Training, Research, Innovation and Foresight in order to meet the challenges of the digital, industrial, energy and educational transformation. The Foundation offers companies the opportunity to take part in innovative projects by becoming, in particular, patrons of chairs.
A Télécom SudParis – Devoteam co-governance for the teaching chair “Interpretable AI for Mission-Critical Applications”.
The governance and activities of the Chair are part of an action programme coordinated by Sylvain le Corff, Professor at Télécom SudParis and Director of the Chair. The steering committee oversees the smooth running of the training programme as well as the orientations and development of the Chair’s content.
Led by the Director of the Chair, it is made up of two representatives from Devoteam, a representative of Télécom SudParis management, a member of the Mines-Telecom Foundation, and two Télécom SudParis artificial intelligence teachers.
