AXA announces its collaboration with Microsoft with the aim of creating a digital healthcare platform that simplifies the healthcare pathway, while providing access to an ecosystem of services open to all. At the end of 2020, a pilot program in this area was launched in Germany and Italy with the aim of rolling it out to other European countries by 2022. This pilot includes several services such as a teleconsultation interface, a medical concierge and a self-assessment tool.
Microsoft’s significant technological contribution
The objective of this partnership is based on Microsoft’s contribution in the fields of cloud and artificial intelligence. The new platform will use Microsoft Cloud for Healthcare technologies, including the Azure API for Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR), which guarantees user privacy.
Thomas Buberel, CEO of Axa refers to these objectives in his words:
“AXA is a global leader in healthcare. Our objectives in this area are among the top priorities of our Driving Progress 2023 strategic plan. This ambition is all the stronger as we face a global health crisis that will be remembered.”
A multi-service healthcare platform
This platform will connect the digital health services offered by AXA to progressively support its customers in their online health experience. The aim is to ensure that this ecosystem is adapted to the healthcare offer and the specificities of local healthcare networks.
Several services will then be offered in this sense. In addition to those already present in the pilot platform launched last year, there will be a digital safe, homecare services (such as drug delivery) and a directory of healthcare professionals.
Thomas Buberl stresses the importance of creating a healthcare service ecosystem:
“In many countries, the fragmentation, complexity and costs of healthcare systems are a barrier to access to care. This new ecosystem of services that we have developed with Microsoft is a powerful lever to enable customers to access the best healthcare solutions. It also illustrates the decisive role of AXA’s technological expertise in the success of its Payer to Partner strategy.”
In the future, the platform would like to add new services, with the ambition of creating an open and global service for patients and care and health providers.
