Based in Sophia Antipolis, AI Verse is developing new technology to help companies efficiently train their Deep Learning networks and create future vision-based applications. The company, which specializes in Deep Learning solutions for the computer vision market, has just completed a €2.5 million financing round. This round of financing was led by Innovacom, an independent innovation capital company that has been focusing on digital technologies for the past 30 years via its Technocom3 fund, and Bpifrance viaits Digital Venture fund.
AI Verse is developing a software solution for the automatic generation of synthetic datasets for artificial vision applications. These datasets are labelled and optimised for training Deep Learning networks. The solution allows any Machine Learning engineer to obtain a dataset of several hundred thousand images in just a few hours instead of the weeks or months required by current methods. Benoit Morisset, CEO of AI Verse, said:
“After less than two years of existence, we are proud of how far we have come and the interest in our solution. The support of Innovacom and Bpifrance strengthens our ambitions and allows us to confirm the full potential that AI Verse represents in the world of Deep Learning.”
Thanks to its disruptive solution, which is fast, inexpensive and deployed on the cloud, the startup intends to generalize access to data and therefore to Deep Learning techniques. AI Verse is aimed at any organization, small, medium or large, industrial or academic, needing labelled images to develop their Deep Learning applications, whether in the fields of robotics, virtual and augmented reality, home automation, or even smart cities and intelligent assistants.
Incubated within INRIA (French National Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology), AI Verse was created in 2020 and remains, after this round of financing, largely owned by its employees and its founders, two international experts in AI, computer vision and computer graphics. Benoit Morisset, CEO of the start-up, was previously CEO and co-founder of Pixmap, a CNRS start-up specialising in real-time 3D mapping for robotics and virtual and augmented reality applications.
Arnauld Lamorlette, CTO of AI Verse, has 35 years of international experience in the computer graphics industry. He notably co-created and directed the studio The Bakery. At Dreamworks Animation, he was a key contributor to the cutting-edge global illumination technology used in Shrek 2, for which he received an award for technical excellence from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2011.
Vincent Deltrieu, partner and board member at Innovacom, who wants to support AI Verse in its technological developments, said:
“For more than 30 years Innovacom has been supporting companies in the development of disruptive technologies likely to transform their industry in depth. AI Verse’s solution is in line with this logic by allowing the generalization of Deep Learning to the computer vision market by considerably increasing the quality of network drives.
”
As for Bruno Villeneuve, participation director at Bpifrance’s Digital Venture division, he stressed:
“The acquisition of data and its labelling are the main obstacles to the development of computer vision applications today. AI Verse’s solution revolutionizes the sector by democratizing access to data. Its SaaS solution allows the creation of synthetic datasets perfectly adapted to the training of computer scientists.Îtraining of deep learning models. We are delighted to be supporting the entire team in this new stage of development.”
